Shaping Narrative at Scale
Across staff and freelance roles, my work has focused on shaping complex stories into clear, emotionally resonant narratives—whether for breaking news, long-form investigations, or culturally significant moments. Much of this work was done at CNN, where speed, accuracy, and editorial integrity were non-negotiable, and where storytelling needed to land across platforms and audiences at scale.
More recently, I’ve continued this approach as a freelance editor and producer, including work supporting projects tied to America’s 250th anniversary, where historical context, national identity, and long-range narrative cohesion are central to the storytelling.
What I Did
Led end-to-end editorial storytelling, from story development through final delivery
Partnered closely with correspondents, producers, and production teams
Shaped narrative through shot selection, pacing, sound design, and structure
Edited both long-form and short-form content for broadcast and digital platforms
Applied consistent editorial rigor across investigative, breaking, and feature formats
Adapted storytelling for diverse audiences while maintaining clarity and emotional impact
The Challenge
Translating complex reporting into stories that were accurate, accessible, and compelling
Working under tight deadlines and high editorial scrutiny
Balancing emotional resonance with journalistic responsibility
Ensuring narrative cohesion across multiple formats and platforms
The Work
Award-winning investigative coverage, including Drew Griffin’s Crisis at the VA
High-visibility broadcast moments such as the CNN’s 2016 Election Night in America Open
Exclusive international coverage, including the Bataclan Paris terror attacks
Lighter editorial formats like All the Best, All the Worst year-end reviews
Freelance contributions to America’s 250th anniversary projects, focused on historical storytelling and national narrative framing
Why It Matters
This body of work reflects my approach to editing and producing: thoughtful, precise, and grounded in story. Whether covering urgent news or long-range historical moments, my goal is always the same—to create work that informs clearly, connects emotionally, and holds up over time.
